Rescuing a stalled network rollout, then turning it into the portfolio's flagship cost story.
The situation
A leading private equity firm introduced Resourcive in April 2021 to rescue a network deployment that had stalled for two and a half years, only 30% installed. The retailer was mid-way through a post-bankruptcy digital transformation strategy, and the failed rollout was actively blocking it.
Why this was hard without help
The existing network ran on a single-threaded MPLS architecture backhauling all internet traffic to headquarters, creating congestion and single points of failure across 550+ locations. The original SD-WAN vendor had been unable to complete the deployment, and voice was still running on legacy infrastructure with no clear modernization path.
What Resourcive brought
Two workstreams ran in parallel:
- Network ($2.1M/yr):Migrated from MPLS and T1 to broadband plus LTE backup, deployed high-availability hardware, and stood up a fully managed SD-WAN with 24/7 NOC coverage.
- Voice ($3M/yr): Sourced a cloud UC platform at sub-$7/seat licensing, landing a blended $13.95 per-phone rate across 7,500 users, an 82% reduction from the $4.1M baseline after a $800K capital investment.
The rebuilt network and voice platform also enabled the retailer's broader "connected associate" in-store strategy, giving store staff the connectivity foundation the digital transformation plan depended on.
"They've delivered for me in terms of cost savings, efficiency gains, and consolidation of providers, all the while being in lock step with the market."

Results
Documented outcomes
- 53% overall spend reductionacross the combined network and voice scope.
- $5.1M in combined annualized savings(realized and contracted, per terms).
- 82% per-phone cost reductionon the voice platform, from $4.1M baseline.
- A stalled, 30%-complete deployment became the portfolio's flagship cost story.
What came next
The relationship continues. Follow-on workstreams in progress or under evaluation include TEM, AWS on-ramps, a cybersecurity review, and POTS aggregation, the same one-introduction-becomes-a-multi-year-relationship pattern that shows up across Resourcive's PE-sourced engagements.
